For either of these circumstances, consider pursuing a certificate program:

  • Consider starting with PHB if you are interested in MOA, RAD, or RES
  • Consider starting with Medical Transcription or Coding Specialist Certificate, if you are interested in HIT
  • Consider starting with a Basic Nurse Assistant course if you are interested in nursing

Advantages:

  1. Marketable skills in a short period of time
  2. Insider's view of the health care professions that require a two-year degree for entry level

Career Goals

____   I would like to pursue a two-year health science program, but I cannot attend classes full-time.
Consider completing the General Education Courses first and then completing your program of choice. Consult the "Where Do I Start?" handout for specifics.

____   I would eventually like to earn a baccalaureate degree.
Consider HIT, NUR, RAD or RES. All of these programs of study can lead to a four year degree. The Nursing Program offered at Moraine Valley currently has 2-plus-2 agreements with 4-year institutions. Contact the program coordinator for more information!

____   I would like some flexibility in choosing an employment setting.
Consider HIT, MAS, NUR, PHB, RAD or RES. Graduates of these programs have been hired in a variety of clinical settings.
