Massage Therapy--Admissions and Transfer Information
Moraine Valley is a comprehensive,
full-service community college with an "open door" admission policy. It shall
admit all high school graduates or equivalent who demonstrate an ability to
benefit from one of its programs, subject only to space limitations. Students
who qualify for financial aid, and who do not possess a high school diploma or a
recognized equivalent, such as a GED, must demonstrate their ability to benefit
to be eligible for
financial aid.
Students may demonstrate ability to
benefit by taking the COMPASS Test,
a test approved by the Department of Education for determining a student's
ability to benefit.
There is no special admissions process
for enrollment in the Massage Therapy Certificate Program. Students must be 18
years of age or older to enroll in MAS-101. You may begin the program in either
the fall, spring or summer semesters. When you register, please mention that you
are a student in the 1249 (Massage Therapy) curriculum.
Criminal Background Checks
In order to comply with certain state statutes and/or clinical affiliation
agreements, students will be asked to complete a criminal background check.
Application forms for criminal background checks may be obtained through the
Career Programs Subdivision Office, B150, and fees paid to the Cashier's Office.
For information on criminal background application procedures, please contact
the Career Programs Subdivision Office at (708) 974-5708. Satisfactory
results of a completed criminal background check must be supplied to the Program
Coordinator the first week a student is enrolled in MAS-110.
This program is intended to lead to
employment. If you are considering transfer to a four-year college or university
to obtain a bachelor's degree using the courses from this program, make an
appointment with an academic advisor to review your options. To make an
appointment with an Academic Advisor, phone (708) 974-5721 or e-mail
advisor@morainevalley.edu.
