Did you receive an opt-in invitation text message?
If you received a text message requesting you to opt-in to the college’s text message alert service, it means that you already provided your phone number to Moraine Valley, and Moraine Valley has contracted with SchoolMessenger to deliver notifications to you.
An example of the message appears below:
"Moraine Valley Community College alerts. Reply Y for aprx 5 msgs/mo. Txt HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. Visit schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg"
If you would like to continue receiving emergency text messages from Moraine Valley, you must reply affirmatively with one of the opt-in key words. Simply reply to the original message (or send a text message to 68453) with either the words "opt in" or "subscribe."
Note: If you do not respond, then you have “Opted Out,” and you will not receive any text notification.
In the case of emergencies such as a school closing, Moraine Valley will notify you by e-mail, phone message, college Web site, and various news media outlets. The communication type used is based on the requirements of the message to be delivered.
