Students continue to participate in high school activities while experiencing their first taste of college-level coursework. This program provides a bridge between high school and college, allowing students to reduce the amount of time needed to complete a degree or a career training program.

Any high school student with demonstrated ability to succeed in rigorous academic coursework who’s interested in earning tuition-free college credit can participate.

What is Tech Prep?
Increasing demand for technical knowledge in a competitive job market requires highly skilled workers with an education beyond high school. Tech Prep is a program that prepares students for entry into high-wage careers in today’s growth industries. An integrated sequence of academic coursework and rigorous technical education helps students meet high academic standards and acquire the skills necessary to succeed in their future careers.

Tech Prep courses help students meet Illinois Learning Standards and put academic concepts within the context of careers and real-world experiences. Students develop clear career goals and focus on their future with the assurance that they are learning skills necessary to meet these goals.

Moraine Valley’s Tech Prep Dual Credit Program prepares students for careers in the following areas:

  • Automotive Technology
  • Business Administration and Accounting
  • Child Care
  • Digital Design and Animation
  • Information and Networking Technologies
  • Information Management Systems and Programming
  • Mechanical Technologies and AutoCAD
  • Office Systems and Applications

If you graduated from a participating high school within the past two years, you may still be able to receive college credit at Moraine Valley through an articulation agreement that allows students to receive college credit for Tech Prep courses they previously completed in high school. For more information on this Tech Prep program, contact the Moraine Area Career System (MACS) at (708) 422-6230.
