What is the deadline to submit an application?
The deadline for applications to the Nursing Program are October 15 for admission in the following spring semester and March 15 for admission in the following fall semester.

What courses do I need to get into the program?
You must have a Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate from the Illinois Department of Public Health. For information on the Basic Nurse Assistant Training Course offered at Moraine Valley, visit www.morainevalley.edu/HealthSciences/bnat/bnat.htm. Students are strongly urged to work as CNAs as they are preparing to enter the Associate Degree Nursing Program.

In addition to CNA training and certification, you must have:

• Completion of COL-101-College: Changes, Challenges, Choices with a grade of "C" or better. COL-101 is required by Moraine Valley for all full time students with less than 30 hours of prior college credit

Do you have evening classes?
There are many evening clinical rotations and a few afternoon classes.

Can I get credit toward my nursing degree if I am a paramedic?
No. Paramedic certificates do not earn course credit toward a nursing degree or allow the student to skip some nursing courses.

Can I work and attend the Nursing Program?
Yes. Students can work while they are in the nursing program and many do; however the amount of time the student works may affect their performance in the nursing program. Some students can work 20 or 30 hours per week and be very successful while others may need to work less.

Can I take the program part time?
Yes. Students can take the program part time if they complete their general education requirements prior to entrance into the nursing program.

What will be accepted as proof that I am a certified nurse aide?
A copy of the letter from Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) stating you have passed the exam and are certified or a print out from the IDPH Healthcare Worker Registry showing that you are still certified, in good standing.

It has been more than 2 years since I have worked as a nurse aide. Do I have to take the training program over again?
If a nurse aide is in good standing with no findings of abuse, neglect or theft and has not worked for pay in the nursing-related services for 24 consecutive months or more, he/she may be able to re-certify by either retraining and testing or testing only.
